Shivamogga: The Shimoga Taluk Unit of the Government NPS Employees’ Association took out an awareness rally and submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner and the people’s representatives demanding the re-introduction of the old pension scheme. The new pension scheme is the worst and is detrimental to the retirement life of Government employees, they lamented.
They said that they would have to face the worst situation during their retirement life. There was a view that scrapping the NPS was the decision of the Central Government and the State Governments could not change it. However, in the 2022 styate Budget, the State Governments of Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Punjab have ordered the abolition of NPS. The new Government in Himachal Pradesh has announced the abolition of NPS and now the new pension should be abolished in the State as well and the old pension scheme should be implemented in the State, they said.
“Four lakh NPS employees and dependent family members will go on a massive indefinite strike at the State level from December 19. The State Government should take the matter seriously and scrap the new pension scheme. He demanded that steps should be taken to implement the old pension scheme.
