Shivamogga: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi publicly apologize for extending his support to MP Prajwal Revanna, who is facing serious allegation of sexually abusing several women.

Speaking to a news agency before attending an election rally in Shivamogga district on Thursday, Rahul said, “Revanna (Prajwal’s) issue is biggest in the state, and the PM, who endorsed and supported a mass rapist accused of sexually harassing 400 women, should apologize to women and give answers to the public.”

During an election rally in the district, Gandhi alleged that every BJP leader knew that Prajwal was a “mass rapist,” yet they supported him, and the BJP proceeded to form an alliance with the regional party JD(S). By supporting Prajwal, the PM insulted every woman in the country.

He demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and all BJP leaders apologize to every woman in India. Rahul said that no leader in the world should have sought support and votes for a “mass rapist.”

“It’s making headlines globally that the Prime Minister endorsed a mass rapist for votes. This reflects the BJP’s principles. They are willing to forge alliances and resort to any means to retain power,” said Gandhi.

Prajwal Revanna, the grandson of former Prime Minister and JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda, is facing serious allegations of sexually abusing women and clandestinely recording them.

The state government has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the matter.
