Shivamogga: The Muslim community in the district came forward to show support for the MahaPanchayat Convention which is to take place on March 20 in protest against the central government’s anti-peasant farming laws.
In a press conference held here on Friday March 19, Minority president Mohammed Arifullah said that he had held a press conference on November 26, 2020 with this regard and today marks the 112th day of the peasant protest.
With the new act, the farmers are fearful of not getting minimum price for their crops and also Mandy system will be eliminated, he said.
He alleges that only corporate companies will benefit with the implementation of the new law.
He said that according to the old agricultural law, people were getting food at cheaper prices but under the new law, corporate companies will have the power to set their own prices.
He requested the entire community to take part in this protest and make sure that it becomes a success.
