Shivamogga: Shivamurthy (25), a police constable serving at Agumbe police station in Tirthahalli taluk, shot himself with a service revolve belonging to a police sub-inspector on the head on Monday night at the police quarters here.

It is said that a noisy temple festival celebration hid the sound of the gunshot and the matter came to light only on Tuesday evening when the neighbours tried to peep into the window of the quarters allotted to Shivakumar.

The neighbours found him in pool of blood. A death note recovered from crime scene speaks of Shivakumar’s personal crisis that led him to taking this extreme step.

He has also tendered an apology to his senior officers for misusing the service revolver.

The police said the deceased was depressed for the past few days owing to disappointment in love.
