Hassan : MLA and former minister HD Revanna has stressed the need for quality primary education even in villages.
He was participating in a programme organised at Ambedkar Bhavan here by the Chalavadi Mahamandala Rajya Samithi to commemorate the 122nd birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar. Various programmes including felicitation to meritorious students and retired workers apart from the annual general meeting of the Samithi were held to coincide with the occasion.
Revanna further said there was a need to ensure that the children of the economically weaker sections too are not deprived of education.
The Constitution of India framed by Dr BR Ambedkar has to be honoured, he said adding there can be social equality when all people are treated equally.
Sri Jnanaprakasha Swamiji of Chalavadi Gurupeetha Urilinga Peddeshwara Mutt blessed the occasion.
Earlier, the seer offered floral tributes to the statue of Ambedkar in the DC office premises following which a procession was taken out to the function venue.
