Hassan: As the Forest Department is preparing to evict the houses of Dalits who have been living there for hundreds of years, Dekhla Gurjenahalli residents led by Gram Panchayat Member Nagesh and Niveshana Protest Samiti President Yunus staged a protest.
Nagesh said, “we have been living for a 150 years since the time of our grandfather and great-grandfather. Along with the houses, we grow coffee on half an acre of land,” he added.
Hundreds of families have no other place other than this site, he informed.
The protesters appealed to AC Anmool Jain not to vacate them from their house immediately. The villagers participated in the protest.
