Hassan: Progressive organisations have demanded the deportation of those who have turned the world famous Channakeshava Temple site into a serious dispute in Belur in order to do politics.
Speaking after taking out a Jatha from Junior College Grounds to Chennakeshava Temple, District Secretary of Raitha Sangha, Swami Gowda said that some people have come to Belur from somewhere and are doing politics here, creating communal differences and sowing seeds of caste poison. Especially during the Channakeshava Swamy Rathotsava, now they demand Muslim qazis should not recite the Quran. Their aim is to make Belur a disputed place. The people of Belur should not support such people, he said.
“Quran has been recited for nearly 350 years. We are starting this walk for peace and harmony as we will continue to help in the future,” he said.
Speaking to Tahasildar M. Mamatha, District Raitha Sangha Secretary Ballur Swamigowda said that it has been nine centuries since the world famous Belur Channakeshava Swamy Temple was inaugurated and since then as per the tradition of the Town, Channakeshavana Brahma Rathotsava Jatra Mahotsava is going on smoothly every year till now. Few people visit to the Taluk to do politics in the name of Hindu organisations saying there is a need to free Sri Channakeshava from slavery, however this as hurt the sentiments of the people of all religions and devotees of Channakeshava are hurt for vested interests’ selfishness.
Apart from distributing pamphlets to the people of Belur, they also staged a protest against chanting Mujara vandana in front of the chariot in the upcoming rathotsava, thereby hurting the sentiments of the devotees of Keshava. He appealed that those who create this mess should be deported from the Taluk.
