Hassan: President of Karnataka Building and Other Construction Workers’ Association H. V. Swamy said that he is contesting as an Independent party candidate from the Hassan Assembly constituency from the Union of Registered Building and other Workers’ Organisations of the District.
Speaking at a press conference he said that there are about 1.10 lakh registered construction workers in the District and 40,000 construction workers in Hassan Assembly constituency. People’s representatives come to us to ask for their votes only after the elections, but no one responds to the problem of wage labourers and unorganised workers after the elections, who deserve the facilities provided by the Government in a proper manner, he said
As they have failed to provide this to the beneficiaries, the qualified workers are deprived of the schemes coming from the Government and they are competing to respond to the labour problem in the coming days. The members of around 12 organisations in the District have expressed their support for me since the last three decades, and they have been working to respond to the problems of construction workers, he added.
