Hassan: Bringing out a twist in the story, a 17 year old girl from Alur Taluk who was allegedly kidnapped and raped has reportedly confessed to the police that unable to bear harassment from her relatives she had run away from their house, where she was staying.

Addressing press persons on Friday, SP Raman Gupta said, “The incident in neither rape nor kidnap, as per the investigation done so far. The girl left her house unable to bear harassment”.

The girl was staying with her relatives in Alur taluk village. Her mother works as domestic help in Hassan and her father had left the family many years ago.

The case was falsely registered when her relatives alleged that the girl was kidnapped and raped by a group of three people who had detained her in a farmhouse. The statement made by the girl was recorded in front of the magistrate and after conducting medical tests, the preliminary reports said that she was not raped.

The girl has now been provided shelter at the Government Girls’ Home, run by the Department of Women and Child Development.
