Chikkamagaluru: Praveen Khandya, Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader was arrested by the Chikkamagaluru Town police on December 31 at the district sessions court premises. A case was registered in 2011 after Khandya had obstructed police officials from executing their duty during the Dattamala Abhiyana.
The Chikkamagaluru police arrested Khandya when the latter visited his lawyer on Saturday at the district sessions court premises. He has been sent to judicial custody till January 2. With this, the total number of arrests in this case has gone upto 6.
Khandya who is the key accused in the DySP Kallappa Handibag suicide case and abduction of usinessman Tejas Gowda, was recently granted anticipatory bail by the Karnataka High Court.
