Chikkamagaluru: An MLA from Tarikere resorted to hooliganism and illegally cast votes in favour of his candidate here during the APMC election.
Tarikere legislator, Shrinivas the lone Congress MLA from the district entered the voting booth along with his supporters, sent the booth agent and police officials outside, snatched the ballet papers from the PRO and cast 51 votes in favour of his candidate.

Immediately, the officials brought the matter to the notice of the Tahshildar and requested for re-elecion. Even the locals gave a written complaint to the officials.

Following the complaint, a case has been registered under IPC Sections 171c, 34 and 135a at Ajjampura Police Station and has named the MLA as first accused. Case has been registered against his supporters too.

Later, re-election was held under tight security and Chikkamagaluru SP Annamalai has assured that notices will be issued to all the accused.

Following MLA’s goondagiri, the locals have lashed out at the government and the elected representatives. The lone MLA with his goondagiri, has embarrased the ruling Congress which is trying to regain power in the coming elections.
