Chikkamagaluru: Murthy from Chikkamagaluru, recipient of 2014-15 district Rajyotsava award is well known for carving letters and pictures on slab stones across the state.
Murthy learnt carving from his grandfather where as his ancestors were known for carving letters on stones during their times. He has carved name plates, title boards of various famous temples in the district including Datta Peeta and Mullayyanagiri.

His wife has lent him lot of support and played a vital role in his success. In the recent past he has computerized his work whereby using technology he has carved pictures of Kannada matinee idol late Rajkumar and pictures of Sringeri, Adichunchanagiri and Rambhapuri mutt seers.

Recognizing his work Chikkmagaluru district administration honoured him with district Rajyotsava award in the year 2104-15. Many organizations have also honored him and his clientele list is on the rise mainly due to his delicate carving skills.
