Handibhag, Ganapathi case: C’magaluru to remain bundh tomorrow

Chikkamagaluru: Various parties and organisations, barring the BJP have called for a district bundh on Saturday, July 16, demanding justice in DySP M K Ganapathi and DySP Kallappa Handibhag cases.

At a meeting convened at the tourist bangalow in the city on Thursday, JD(S), Congress, BSP, CPI, DSS, Janadani, Namma Karnataka Rakshana Vedike, Kannada Sene, Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha Hasiru Sene, Autoriskshaw Drivers and Owners association and other organisations leaders decided to observe the bandh seeking unbiased probe into the cases.

The organisers have said that Praveen Kandya, the accused in Handibhag case is being protected only because he is associated with the saffron outfit.

CPI leader H M Renukaradhya said local politicians might have provoked Tejas Gowda to complain to police. An investigation should be held in this regard. But, the Congress leaders mislead the people saying that they will take a delegation to the chief minister, he claimed. Congress leader M L Murthy said the bandh should be conducted for a genuine reason. BSP?leader K T Radhakrishna said the opposition, in the name of protest, has been indulging in bhajan, music and non-vegetarian meals in Vidhana Soudha.
