Mudigere: A driver sustained serious injuries after he lost control over the tanker carrying 20,000 ltrs of diesel here on April 22.

Lokesh is the injured driver. The tanker was heading towards Bhadravathi from Mangaluru via Charmady Ghat.

The tanker belonging to Ravi Jalal from Mangaluru fell into a 200 mtr deep gorge in Charmady Ghat. However, the driver is said to be out of danger. Soon after receiving the information, Banakal police arrived at the spot, rescued Lokesh and shifted him to Mudigere government hospital in an ambulance. Later, he was carried to Mangaluru hospital.

Following diesel leakage in the spot, Chikkamagaluru fire service personnel have camped at the spot to avoid fire. Police officials said that tanker will be lifted from the gorge after emptying the remaining diesel into another tanker.
