C’magaluru honey-trapping accused go missing leaving cops red-faced

Chikkamagaluru: The honey-trapping incident that shook the entire Malnad region has a twist that has left eyebrows raised. All the three accused in the honeytrap case have gone missing and various theories are now making rounds, specifically pointing at lapses on part of police.Kairunissa, Ruksana and Arun, the three main accused in the case have been absconding. It is said that the FIR should have been filed against them on January 17 but the trio managed to give the police a slip and now, efforts over the last three days to locate the three has only met failure.

With the police too hushing up the matter, the issue of the accused going missing came to light on Saturday morning leaving the police red-faced. Some say that the police had sent them away on January 17 without filing an FIR asking them to return the following day. The accused fled and never returned.

Chikkamagaluru SP Annamalai has directed NR Pura PSI to find the gang and bring them to books.

But, the damage seems to have been done already as the locals are talking of the possibilities of the police being hand in gloves with the gang.
