Police Catch Five Suspects in Chikkamagaluru Farmhouse Robbery

Chikkamagaluru: Five people have been arrested by the police in a major breakthrough. They are suspected of breaking into a farmhouse in Hosalli village in Mudigere taluk, beating up the residents, and taking valuables like jewelry and cash.

The incident happened at Anantaram Hebbar’s home in Hosalli village, Mudigere taluk, on February 15. After breaking into the house with force, the criminals attacked the residents and stole valuables. They allegedly doused the victims with chill powder and left with Rs. 5,25,000 in cash and Rs. 1,25,000 worth of gold jewelry. They also injured Srinivasa Murthy, a worker, and caused damage to items, including a television set.

In accordance with IPC sections 395, 397, 427, and 450, a case was filed at the Balur police station after the incident. Ansar Alias Anchu from Bantwala, Qalandar Alias Mohammed Gaus from Belthangadi, Shining Kumar Alias Shaini from Bettadamane village in Mudigere Taluk, Ashraf Alias Hasarab from Anjoor village, and Umesh from Jannapur village have been identified as the people who were arrested.

While Ansar was apprehended by locals while attempting to flee, the other suspects fled in different directions. However, a coordinated police operation led to the arrest of all the accused. Investigations are also being conducted on other suspects, and efforts are being made to locate and capture them.

According to investigations, the robbery was masterminded by Bettadamane coffee trader Shining Kumar, who had identified Ananta Hebbar’s home as a potential target. The suspects had stayed at Kottigahara’s Anil Lodge prior to committing the heist. The police recovered the stolen money through cooperative efforts and intelligence-gathering, and they are still looking for the other suspects.

The villagers have praised the successful operation that was carried out under the direction of District SP Vikram Amate.
