Chikkamagaluru: Congress leaders staged a protest in Uddeboranahalli Village against inadequate power supply and non-sanction of power transmission stations in Bilekallahalli, Lakkumanahalli, Hiregouja and Lakya Gram Panchayat limits in Chikkamagaluru Taluk.
Block Congress workers and leaders staged a protest in Uddeboranahalli Village and raised slogans against MLA C. T. Ravi. They demanded adequate electricity.
Congress leader H.D. Thammaiah said that the aim of all of us should be to make this Government fall as it has not solved the problems of the farmers and also make MLA C. T. Ravi a former MLA in the upcoming elections.
“We don’t want an MLA who works for the State or Nation. We are confident of electing an MLA who will work for the Constituency,” he said, adding that C. T. Ravi’s irregularities will be exposed, he said.
Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committe Women’s Wing Vice-President Rekha Huliyappa Gowda said that MLA C. T. Ravi, who was supposed to listen to the problems of the farmers here, has neglected them. She complained that he was busy travelling around the Country without listening to the problems of the public. “Due to lack of proper power supply in rural areas, farmers are not able to irrigate their fields on time. The motors are getting burnt and crops are being destroyed,” she said, adding that electricity is being provided at night. She said that farmers are also afraid of the presence of leopards in the area.
“Adequate power supply system should be provided in Bilekallahalli, Lakkummannahalli, Hiregouja, Lakya Gram Panchayat limits and a power transmission station should be taken up. She threatened to gherao the MESCOM office if it was ignored.
