Chikkamagaluru: In order to make the general elections to the Legislative Assembly a success, the District Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) Committee has organised a programme to create awareness among all the hostel students in the District by writing letters to their parents and relatives.
In a voter awareness programme organised by the District Administration and District SVEEP committee at Morarji Desai Residential School in Beekanahalli in Chikkamagaluru Taluk, Gram Panchayat CEO G. Prabhu launched the letter writing campaign.
“Just as blood is as important to the human body, the roots of the whole Democracy must be strong, which is possible through free elections. That is why every voter should be able to participate in this process,” he said.
In today’s electronic age, the culture of letter writing is fading away. Yet the warmth of the letter message cannot be conveyed by any electronic machine,” he said, and added, “I am confident that the parents who read the sweet letters of their children will definitely respond to the request of the children and participate in voting.
