Chikkamagaluru: The suicide case of B.Com student Dhanyashree(20) has got a new twist with primary investigation by the police revealing that she ended her life following moral policing.

Meanwhile, police have arrested BJP Yuva Morcha president Anil in connection to the case.

The primary investigation revealed that Anil after seeing Dhanyashree’s pro-muslim messages on Whatsapp, spoke to her father and asked him to advise her. It is learnt that Dhanyashree while chatting with her friend Santhosh from Mangaluru spoke in support of muslims. Also she sent a message that read ‘I love Muslims’. Santhosh later took screenshot of her messages and shared it with the Bajrang Dal and pro-Hindu groups. Anil thereafter asked her father to keep tab of his daughter.

Earlier, Dhanyashree’s father had filed a complaint at Mudigere station stating that she had committed suicide after he forcibly snatched her mobile for not studying well. An FIR was also registered in this case. But now during primary investigation, police have recovered Dhanyashree’s messages which reveal the other side of the story.

The pro-Hindu activists had been to her house and alleged that she was roaming around with a guy from another religion. They also threatened her after informing her parents. Her father hence did not give her the phone and Dhanyashree after realising that the issue is spread in the locality and among her friends, took the extreme step three days ago.

Police have continued investigation into the case and are trying to trace her friend Santhosh.
