Kundapur: In a gruesome accident between a private bus and a Omni car, eight school children died and 11 including the driver and a teacher suffered injured. The accident took place at Mohadi Cross near Trasi.
There are six girls and two boys among the deceased. They have been identified as Nikitha, Clarissa, Celista, Ancita, Alvita, Royston, Delvin and Ananya of Don Bosco School.

According to sources, a private bus plying from Byndoor to Kundapur collided with a Maruti Omni with school students travelling to Don Bosco School.

It is said that two children died on the spot and five died on the way to hospital. Another child died at the hospital. Eleven others have been injured. The driver of the Omni and teacher Philomena were also injured. Some have been shifted to local hospital and others to Manipal hospital.

Three passengers in the bus suffered minor injuries.

The driver of the bus Manju and the conductor Shanker have been arrested.

SP Annamalai visited the hospitals. Gangolli police have registered a case.
