Going-to-be couples in Karnataka have one thing easy on their list of things to do, with the Bangalore Malleswaram sub-registrar office recently launching a pilot project to help couples register their marriage from the comfort of their homes.
Now one doesn’t have to visit the sub-registrar’s office for registering their marriage under Hindu Marriage Act. A cerificate is generated at the comfort of home by providing wedding invite, video, Aadhaar. One more step towards transparency and service delivery. #revenue #gok… pic.twitter.com/a233SlXO9l

Now, all that couples have to do is create a wedding invitation video and upload it on the Kaveri 2.0 website along with Aadhaar authentication to receive a QR code printed marriage certificate from the sub-registrar’s office, which they can later present to officials for verification.
The process is easy where all that couples need to do is log in and select all the right options like the Aadhar, wedding invite with video, three witnesses and the necessary certificates, which the authorities will verify before sending the digital certificate. Couples can then go ahead and download the certificate.
Karnataka revenue minister Krishna Byre Gowda states that the project, now on its pilot phase, will soon extend to other parts of the state, by the end of February, to help couples all over the state.
The process is also helpful for couples applying for a passport as it spares them from any additional verification before including a spouse’s name.
Older couples can also make use of this method by following the same process to officially register themselves. However, couples can make use of this service only as long as they come under the Hindu Marriage Act of 1952. Those coming under the Special Marriage Act Karnataka 1960 will have to first come up with a month’s notice by presenting themselves at the registrar.
