Koppal: In a shocking incident, a young man allegedly died by suicide by jumping into a lake in Jumlapur Village.

The deceased has been identified as Mahesh Badawadgi (27). Mahesh K was from Chalagera Village in the Taluk and he was staying at his sister’s house in Jumlapura. At 1.30 p.m. on Tuesday November 15 after posting the status – ‘Sorry, Amma- Anna’ on social media, he consumed liquor on the banks of the lake and died by suicide by jumping into the lake leaving behind his footwear and mobile phone.

When the locals who noticed the mobile status searched for him and found his mobile phone on the banks of the lake. It was confirmed that he had resorted to suicide jumping into the lake.

Fire brigade personnel were immediately called in and Mahesh Badawadagi’s body was lifted from the lake and brought to Kushtagi Government Hospital for postmortem.

The incident took place at Tavaragera Police Station limits. The exact cause of the youth’s tragic death is yet to be ascertained.
