Kalaburagi: The annual fair of Atanoor village deity, Nandishwara is set to commence with much fanfare, announced temple committee members.
Speaking to reporters, Siddaramma Chikkmath informed that a 11-day relgious discourse by renowned scholar Kadakol Madiwalapa has concluded in the village, marking the beginning of the festivities.
The Jatre (annual fair) will span three days, from May 11 to 13, and will feature a host of special events, including the Adda Pallakki Mahotsava (procession of the palanquin) and traditional wrestling matches (Jangi Kusthi) by wrestlers from neighboring villages. The festivities will be accompanied by vibrant processions with a variety of musical instruments.
Thousands of devotees from surrounding villages will take part in the annual fair and the committee will be overseeing all the arrangements for successful hosting of the event, Chikkmath said.
Mahantgouda Biradar, Kalyani Devangaon, Chandrakant Anoor, Sharanappa Jamadar, Shivalingappa Hatagundi, Shankargouda Patil, Bhaganna Balondagi, Shrishail Hugar, Irayya Swami and others were present during media briefing.
