Kalaburagi: In a tragic incident, a student drowned in a stone quarry behind Sri Ramatheertha Temple here.

The deceased has been identified as Ashish Gupta (15), a native of Bidar. Ashish, a class 9 student, had gone on a trip to Kalaburagi with his friends from Bidar when the incident took place.

The incident took place when Ashish was swimming in water in a stone quarry with his friends after having darshan at Sri Ramatheertha Temple.

The Fire Brigade Personnel reached the spot and pulled out the body. A case has been registered at Kalaburagi Suburban Police Station.
