The three accused Laxmi, Ashira and Krishna were interrogated by the police. The police are making efforts to trace Shilpa, who is the fourth accused in the case. They have also informed that there are only four accused in the case, as the fifth name mentioned in the FIR was in fact the surname of one of the accused.

The police have also recorded the statements of the doctor treating the victim who was admitted at Basaveshwar Hospital after developing complications due to consuming toilet cleaner. It is said that the doctor said in his statement that the victim was semi-conscious when she was brought to the hospital. She was advised to stay back for more treatment, but got herself discharged.

Police after the preliminary inquiry have told that the senior students had forced the victim to sing, dance and later write the names of dull students in the hostel. The victim wrote the names of Laxmi and Ashira. The police suspect that, fearing consequences after writing the names of her seniors, the victim must have gone to the toilet and consumed the toilet cleaner.

It may be recalled that the victim, Aswathi (19), hailing from Mallapuram in Kerala, is battling for her life at Kozhikode Medical College Hospital (KMCH) after seniors allegedly forced her to drink toilet cleaning solution on May 9.
