Kalaburagi: Former president of the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union Kanhaiya Kumar’s lecture at Dr B R Ambedkar Research Institute of Gulbarga University on October 15 has received the green signal.

Protem vice chancellor Prof. Pramila Ambekar has confirmed the same.

After fringe groups and various associations demanded that Kanhaiya’s lecture be cancelled, Pramila chaired a syndicate meeting to discuss matters. The lecture was given the green signal after the meeting was concluded.

Earlier, there were reports that invitations were already printed out and that it was not right to stop the lecture at this juncture. There were also reports that right-wing group Sri Ram Sena and a parliamentarian from the region pressurized the university to revoke the invitation following which the students stated that the programme will be held at any cost.
