Ballari: A 65-feet wooden temple car taken out as part of the annual festival of Sri Guru Kottureshwara temple overturned in Kotturu, a pilgrim town in Kudligi taluk of Ballari on Tuesday evening injuring at least 10 devotees.
The mammoth car decorated as part of the festival was being pulled by the devotees back to its original spot when the incident took place. The reason behind the incident has not been ascertained. Though no casualties were reported, it is said that one out of the ten injured persons is serious.
It is said that panic-stricken devotees ran helter-skelter to save themselves, causing stampede and leaving the police in a fix.
The annual fair of Sri Guru Kotturshwara temple happens to be one of the biggest festivals of North Karnataka where thousands of devotees witness the festival every year.
