Ballari: Superintendent of Police, Ballari, R Chethan has been summoned by the Karnataka State Women’s Commission to appear before it on June 30 following complaint by former Kudligi DySP Anupama Shenoy.

Lady singham Anupama Shenoy tenders resignation?-1Shenoy who had earlier targeted former Labour Minister and District-in-charge minister Parameshwara Naik for her abrupt transfer has now accused Ballari SP of harrassment before the commission.

In the letter written to the commission Shenoy has directly blamed the SP of harrassing her while discharging her duties. She alleged that subordinate officers were instructed to register a complaint against 2 persons in connection with the dispute over a liquor shop in Kudligi but the SP directed to register cases against three persons, which subsequently led to outrage in the region.

In the letter it is also mentioned that Chetan had issued memos to her; sent her on Other Office Duty in violation of the model code of conduct that was in force for the zilla and taluk panchayat elections; and forwarded her sick leave application to the medical board for verification. Chetan also succumbed to pressures from politicians. All these incidents had forced to resign from her post and she has requested the commission to ensure her justice.

Following notice from the Women’s Commission, SP Chethan has said that he would appear before the commission with all the relevant documents and refuted all the allegations amde against him.

Women’s Commission Chief Manjula Manasa confirmed about the letter and said, “Someone on behalf of Anupama has submitted her letter. The Commission would require her statement and personal affidavit also. The commission certainly will look into her complaint, will be recording statement of the SP also and get enquiry done.”

It may be recalled that Anupama Shenoy had tendered her resignation as the DSP on June 4, which was later accepted by the state government. Earlier she was in news after being abruptly transferred allegedly at the behest of former minister Naik for putting his call on hold.
