Dharwad: “The Women’s contribution for the overall development of our nation and society is pivotal. Constitution has banned discrimination of women on the basis of gender, cast, creed, colour among other things. A reservation of 33 percent for women in all the fields paves the way for them towards equality”, said High Court Justice L Narayanswamy.
Inaugurating a workshop on “Entrepreneurship for Women’s Empowerment” organised at Alur Venkatarao Bhavan here on the occasion of World Women’s Day on Wednesday, the Judge said as per crime statistics every 2 minutes one case of crime against against women was registered in India and one dowry death was reported every 20 minutes. “Our society is still far behind in raising voice against atrocities on women, the Judge said adding that the service of women must be honoured.
District Principal and Sessions Judge V Shreeshanand who presided over asked women to make best use of the programmes conducted by the district legal services authorities to get equal opportunities.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. S B Bommanahalli, ZP CEO Snehal R, SP Dharmendrakumar Meena and others were present.
