Hubballi: Responding to a call given for a statewide bandh of engineering colleges in protest against the policies of Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), the students boycotted classes and took out a motorcycle rally in Hubballi.
The VTU college bandh has been called jointly by All India Democratic Students Organisation (AIDSO) and VTU Students Agitation Committee to press for the fulfilment of various demands.
Engineering students who boycotted their classes, took out a motorcycle rally from Airport Road to Kittur Chennamma Circle, while raising slogans against against VTU and alleged that the varsity administration had failed to safeguard the interests of students.
They held placards seeking fulfilment of their demands.
Demands
The demands of the students are cancellation of the “year back” system for both crash course students as well as regular students of the 2010 scheme for the academic year 2017, permission to those students who failed in critical subjects to attend classes (2010 batch) and conduct supplementary examination for CBCS students of the 2017 batch.
