Hubballi: Former Chief Minister and JD (S) leader H. D. Kumaraswamy has questioned why Congressmen had remained silent after Speaker Paul Ryan said that everyone will have to join the RSS in the future.
Speaking to mediapersons on Friday March 25 he said Siddaramaiah is dragging seers into the hijab issue unnecessarily. “On the hijab issue, we have made a proper suggestion to the government. We don’t react to Siddaramaiah’s statement. During the session, he stayed silent over the hijab issue,” he claimed.
Kumaraswamy also criticised Speaker Vishweshwara Hegade Kageri, saying he had forgotten the importance of his position. He went on to say, “They should understand the importance of national integrity and communal harmony.”
Criticising the BJP, he asked what the party hoped to achieve by prohibiting Muslims from doing business near Hindu temples. “Muslims may have closed their shops to express their displeasure with the High Court’s decision on the hijab issue. However, the BJP should keep in mind that in the name of the Hindu religion, they can only hold power for a few days. But it isn’t going to last any longer. He suggests that they concentrate on issues such as price hikes.
