Hubballi: Dr. Jagadish Shettar, the former Chief Minister and MLC, has penned a letter to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, urging for essential funds to facilitate comprehensive growth of the Gangubai Hangal Gurukul Trust and the Indian Classical Music Gurukul Model Education Centre.

Over time, within the Gurukul, five esteemed state gurus and four tabla instructors have been tirelessly engaged in numerous activities. Despite presenting various development requisites, these requests have remained unaddressed by the government, as conveyed by Shettar in his letter. He expresses dissatisfaction with the state of the Gurukul.

The trust’s chairman, who also holds the position of regional commissioner, has not convened a single meeting in the past 12 years. Despite the government’s annual grant of Rs 1.25 crore, only Rs 25 lakh was utilized in the year 2023-24. Shettar noted that the grant had been disbursed, yet this allocation hampers the smooth execution of the Gurukul’s daily operations.
