Hubballi: Rait Sena leader Viresh Sobaradamath, who was on an indefinite fast demanding early solution to the Mahadayi issue, has ended his fast completing six days, in Naragund following assurance given by the Minister for Mines and Geology Vinay Kulkarni on behalf of the state government.
However the indefinite agitation over the Mahadayi and Kalasa Banduri, which was launched over two years ago, has continued.
Mr. Sobaradmath, who has taken ‘sanyasa’ to work for the cause of farmers, had launched the indefinite fast fed up over the lack of response by the State and Union governments in resolving the issue through dialogue. He demanded that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has to again lead an all-party delegation to the Prime Minister seeking his co-operation in ending the row amicably.
Vinay Kulkarni held discussion with the farmers and office bearers of the Raitha Sene and convinced them the need to end indefinite fast. Sri Basava Jaya Mruthyunjaya Swamy of Panchamasali Peetha and Naragund MLA B.R. Yavagal were present.
Kulkarni reiterated that the State government was committed to find solution to the issue. However it was delayed due to the attitude of Goa government towards initiating dialogue on the issue, he said.
