Hubballi: Veteran JD (S) leader Basavaraj Horatti has written a letter to the party Supremo H D Devegowda urging him to take some necessary steps for the rejuvenation of the party, especially in the North Karnataka region.
Quoting the wish list of Teachers Forum in Dharwad, with whom Horatti had an interaction, he said the party needed to chalk out plans and programmes for its survival in NK region.
Horatti said though for a change, voters were ready to support the party, but the leaders concerned were not ready to involve them. The party does not have a strong base in North Karnataka, since many leaders of erstwhile Janata Pariwar have either joined Congress or BJP and those remaining neutral were reluctant to work for the party. If the party seniors take people of all communities into confidence, then there is a chance for the party to prosper in NK region, he said.
“We need to highlight before the young generation the party’s contribution in realising the issues such as Hubballi Idgah Maidan, Suvarna Soudha, Hubballi Airport, formation of Lokayuktha and Human Rights Commission among others.
We have to prepare a work plan for our election agenda about programmes concerning youths aged between 18-30 years-unemployment, small industries, students and slum dwellers and project them before the electorate prior to several months of the election like BJP did in Uttar Pradesh”, he said.
It was said the BJP was trying to apply the same tactics in Karnataka, it tried in UP election recently but a large number of people are indifferent to this opinion, he said while asking Devegowda to prepare a plan of action for the next election, for which the other senior leaders of the party are bent on doing work.
Open a party office in each district to reach its programmes to people, he suggested while requesting Devegowda to have a press conference in Hubballi region to popularise party programmes in this part of the region.
