Farmers assaulted, robbed by dacoits

Hubballi: Farmers who were carrying their agricultural products to APMC market here on Friday, were attacked by dacoits and robbed in Sulla village in Hubballi taluk. The miscreants robbed mobile phones and Rs 7,000 cash from the farmers.

Basavanagowda and Rangappa Chowraddy were the injured farmers, who have been shifted to KIMS Hospital in Hubballi.

The incident took place on Friday night when both the farmers were on their way to APMC market carrying Shenga and onion sacks from Kiresur village in a Tata Ace at 4 am.

When they reached Sulla village, they were waylaid by the dacoits group and were threatened. When the farmers resisted, they assaulted them and escaped from the spot stealing 2 mobile phones, Rs 7000 cash and a watch.

A case has been registered at Hubballi rural police station.
