Cricket betting: Shettar says senior police officials involved

Hubballi: Opposition leader in the assembly Jagadish Shettar on Saturday demanded a CBI probe into allegation of the involvement of senior police officials in cricket betting.

Addressing a press meet on Saturday, Shettar said that many officials and politicians are also involved with cricket bookies in these betting.

“Only suspending a DCP or two constables won’t serve the purpose. I am told that another senior official also involved but not shown in the sting operation conducted by a TV channel. Betting is destroying many families as innocent people are investing their assets on the illegal activity”, he said

Shettar said that law and order has completely collapsed in the state since Congress has come to power, he also held home minister KJ George responsible for it. He said that the government is withdrawing cases booked against elements that had created law and order problem in the state in the past which is wrong.
