Hubballi: Expressing surprise over BJP leader B S Yeddyurappa’s decision to lead a delegation to Goa CM to discuss the Mahadayi water sharing issue, the Mahadayi Kalasa Banduri Horata Samanvaya Samiti has urged him to visit Prime Minister Narendra Modi to convince him to intervene in the issue instead of meeting Manohar Parrikar.

Speaking to reporters here, forum conveners Vikas Soppin, Mahesh Pattar and Amrut Ijari said that there was no point in meeting Goa CM, when he himself has expressed unwillingness to meet his Karnataka counterpart on the issue.

Former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa is slated to lead a delegation of MPs and farmers’ leaders to meet Parrikar to convince him to come to the dialogue table.

Soppin said there was a need to apprise the PM on the need to share Mahadayi river waters and on how important it was for Karnataka to get its share of water from the said river basin.

He said earlier, people were asked to wait because of elections in Goa and now, with the same happening within a year in Karnataka, political parties would get another reason to delay finding a solution to the problem.
