Dalit activists are demanding strict action against a social media post claiming that Benegal Narsing Rau, not Dr. BR Ambedkar, was the architect of the Indian Constitution. In a video, an unidentified person in Tulu challenges school textbooks, urging people to inform children that Rau, not Ambedkar, deserves credit.

At a SC/ST grievances meeting in Mangaluru, M Sheena Mastikatte, a retired bank official, condemned the post as an insult to Ambedkar, demanding rigorous action against the perpetrator. He emphasized that Rau wasn’t even part of the Drafting Committee, reading out the names of its six members.

Another activist, Sadashiva, called for immediate action against those spreading misinformation about Ambedkar, urging the removal of the post from all social media platforms. DCP Sidharth Goyal pledged strict action after identifying the video’s creator through the CEN police station.

Expressing discontent, activist Anand criticized authorities for neglecting the development of Dr B R Ambedkar Circle while beautifying other city circles. He highlighted the MCC’s allocation of Rs 98 lakh for the circle’s development and Ambedkar’s statue installation, questioning the lack of progress.

Some activists objected to public transport buses still using ‘Jyothi Circle’ instead of ‘Dr B R Ambedkar Circle’ and threatened protests if not rectified within a month. DCP BP Dinesh Kumar assured instructions to bus owners regarding the name change.
