Udupi: The pride of Karnataka, Yakshagana, is all set to cross borders and travel to Maharashtra. For the first time in history, a Yakshagana performance is being prepared entirely in the Marathi language. Under the direction of Bannanje Sanjeev Suvarna, Marathi Yakshagana will be performed in three places in Maharashtra.

Amateur artists, who have chosen the Chakravyuha prasanga (story), are all set to spread the Kannada on the stage of Maharashtra, the birthplace of theater. So far, Yakshagana has been performed in Kannada, Tulu, Hindi and English languages. However, this is the first time that the dialogues with the participation of the backing band will be performed in Marathi language.

Amateur artists working in various fields in Udupi district are undergoing training and participating in this performance. They have memorized the dialogue completely and are performing in a way that will make the Marathi people nod their heads in appreciation. This rare Yakshagana will be performed in various parts of Maharashtra for the next three days.
