While death by drowning is not an uncommon scene at the beach, here is another one that took place recently at Udupi’s Malpe beach. A young boy who decided to spend his Republic day exploring the Delta beach found himself caught amidst the waves, to meet a fateful end. The unfortunate victim was identified as Nithin, a native of Delhi working at a bank in Bangalore. The 35 year old was here on a break with his two friends, having come down to explore the Delta beach.

The trio were playing, as all individuals do at sea, when Nitin was suddenly swept away by the waves and found missing, despite all efforts on the part of the police. It was later found that he was carried away by the waves, just as is usual with most deaths at the shore.

The body was later found by a team of divers, bringing about a sad end to what was supposed to be a memorable picnic for the three friends.

A case has been registered at the Malpe police station. Meanwhile, family members of the deceased mourn the death of a young father, husband and son.  In the end we can only say that life is full of surprises and one can only be prepared at all times to expect the unexpected.
