UT Khader: Generic drug stores in all district hospitals by December

Udupi: The Health and Family Welfare Minister U.T. Khader has said that the State government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Hindustan Latex Ltd, recently to set up diagnostic centres and generic drug stores in district hospitals to enable patients to get diagnostic facilities and drugs at affordable costs.

Speaking to the media persons at Green Valley School on October 31, a, Khader said that by December every district and taluk would have generic medicine stores and 24×7 pharmacy centers to provide free and improved medication for the poor.

The Department of Health and Family Welfare will soon recruit 923 PG Doctors (spl surgeons), 321 MBBS Doctors, 87 dental surgeons, and  2000 other paramedical staff. He also said that government will introduce sophisticated diagnostic centers and high-tech labs in all district hospitals to provide advanced diagnostics at affordable rates to the needy people.

The state government has 198 new ambulance services, out of which Udupi will have 3 to 4 additional 108 services in the second week of November.

He added that  henceforth budget-based medicine supply will not be applicable, the concerned authority of the government hospital should send, required medicine list before the stock gets empty.

The Minister further informed that computerized data entry system of the patients will also be maintained so that details of previous test will be available

He condemned the opposition attitude of blaming each and every move of the state government. He said “criticism should be healthy, without any reason no one should be allowed to create confusion in the society”.

He called upon  the  private  institutions and their managements,  to come forward  and stand for the poor. He also congratulated the The Green Valley National School Trustees, for contributing Rs 2.5 crore for the sophisticated general medicine,gynecology and maternity hospitals that are designed to be built in Shiroor.

The school also announced Rs 15000 and Rs 7500 incentives for the doctors and nurses who work in the newly built hospitals with government hospital and free education to the children

The minister visited the Primary Health Center and gram panchayat office at Shiroor earlier in the day.
