UPCL unit II shuts down after transformer blast

Udupi: A transformer blast is said to have taken place at the Adani owned UPCL power plant on Wednesday, September 26, at Yellur near Padubidri in the district.

While no causalities have been reported in the blast, it is said to have impacted the operations of the second unit of the power plant. The company is said to have suffered heavy loss due to the blast. A proper estimate of the loss can be calculated only after top technical staff visits the site, it is said.

As a result of the blast in the second unit which has a capacity of 600 mW, has been shut down while the first unit has been generating electricity, as usual, it is learnt.
