Udupi: Lifeguards at Malpe Beach saved two tourists from drowning at around 5.00 pm on Sunday September 11.

According to sources, Avinash (26) and Sagar (27), two Sakleshpur drivers, were swimming in the water in front of Shivpanchakshari Bhajana Mandir, not far from the main beach. A massive wave swept them away.

The lifeguards rushed to the scene and saved them.

According to sources, the two had entered deeper waters despite many lifeguard warnings. They were reportedly inebriated when the incident happened.
