Udupi: Annamalai, Udupi SP, in a press meet on Saturday March 7, declared that the entry of Praveen Togadia, as keynote speaker in the Virat Hindu Samajosthsava to be held at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial College grounds on March 9 is banned.

“There are 19 cases booked against him in 5 states, many states have banned his entry with the implication of section 144(3), the only cause for Togadia’s ban is the previous cases charged against him”, the SP reasoned.
Togadia, who belong to Gujrat has cases for distracting the communal peace though his speech, there are around 54 cases booked during Samajothsava, at Puttur, in the year 2012, consequently other 30 cases were filed against Togadia and 24 cases on other Hindu organizations.
The SP said, “To avoid any such situation, in the district, Praveen Togadia’s entry has been prohibited for a week from 07-03-2015 to 13-03-2015.The main intention of the ban is to maintain peace in the district.”
SP further said that as per the situation the main intension is to maintain Law and Order for which the Police and the district administration will do all possible things. “Public safety and peace is important to us”, he added.
DC had issued the order of prohibition as per the recommendation of SP and Tahsildar. He added that communal violence which is taking place in various place in the district like Gangolly, Kundapura and Kaup is also one of the criteria noted for his ban.
