Udupi: The board naming a road in Bola village, Karkala Taluk, after Nathuram Godse, the man who assassinated Mahatma Gandhi, has sparked a new controversy.

The road that leads to the Bola Gram Panchayat office has a board that reads ‘Padugiri Nathuram Godse Road’ in Kannada script.

The photos of the road sign have gone viral on social media, drawing a lot of criticism.

According to sources, the name board was installed by an unknown private party.

Following the incident, Bola Gram Panchayat removed the board and Karkala Rural Police Sub- Inspector Tejaswi visited the spot.
