Udupi: An elderly man who was lost and wandering along a roadside near Hejamady was rescued by local police. The man, who has dementia, was handed to his son, who had travelled from Bengaluru to the district.
According to sources, the elderly man reportedly boarded a bus at Majestic from Bengaluru’s Kempegowda bus stop to Udupi on December 3. He arrived in Udupi, got lost, and ended up in Hejamady on Sunday morning. He was taken to the police station by officers who saw him roaming on the road.
The man was found in a confused state and had lost his memory. He finally revealed his name was Shrinivas (69), a retired Bengaluru man who worked for BSNL. He remembered his son’s name and phone number later. Shrinivas’s mobile phone, which he always carried with him, was found to have been lost.
Shripathy, his son, had already departed for Udupi on a bike. Upon reaching an unfamiliar location, Shrinivas called his son. Passerby told Shripathy that his father had arrived in Udupi while they were on the phone.
Shripathy tried to find his father after he got to Udupi but was unsuccessful. Shripathy was later informed about his father by the police, who had also handed him to his son.
