Udupi: In a shocking incident, a young man was allegedly assaulted by a group of youngsters in Mallaru Kombagudde after he posted a WhatsApp status celebrating CSK’s win in an IPL match and trolling RCB for their defeat.

Varshit Poojary, a resident of Kombagudde in Mallaru, had posted on his WhatsApp status about CSK’s victory in the IPL match, along with a phone call from raghavendra, who objected to the post trolling the RCB team, abused him with abusive words and threatened to not give up his life.
He also abused Varshit’s parents and threatened them that they would come to the ground tomorrow. On May 26, Raghavendra again and told varshith that I am on the ground and you should come immediately. When varshith went to ground raghavendra, Sudheer and others allegedly scolded him for posting a WhatsApp status against the RCB team.Swaroop, who had come to play on the ground after seeing Raghavendra hitting Varshit, saw Vicky coming and threatened to kill him and left the spot, varshit said in his complaint to Kapu police station.

Varshit was admitted to the district government hospital by Swaroop and others for treatment. A case has been registered at Kapu police station in this regard.
