Udupi: An elderly woman succumbed to burn injuries after her saree accidentally caught fire.

The deceased has been identified as Rukmini (80), a resident of Amalapadi.

According to sources, the synthetic saree she was wearing caught fire when she lit an incense stick and an oil lamp for prayers on July 28. Rukmini was rushed to Manipal Private hospital.  However, she passed away without responding to treatments.

A case has been registered at the Udupi City Police Station.
