Udupi: ASP Annamalai, who recently took additional charge of Kundapur, has been appointed the superintendent of police (SP) of Udupi district.

In a notification issued yesterday, the government made a number of transfers mong IAS and IPS officers, of which the new posting of Annamalai was one.

Annamalai will take over from Rajendra Prasad, who took up the post less than 5 months ago.

Annamalai was ASP of Karkala and Kundapur taluks, hails from Coimbatore. Born to J R Kuppeswamy and K Parameshwari, he has done BE in mechanical engineering and MBA. He is an IPS officer of 2011 batch.

His first posting itself was ASP of Karkala. Under his guidance, the Karkala police station achieved the tag of a model police station. 

On November 29 this year, he was given the additional charge of Kundapur.
