Udupi: Most of the deep-sea fishing boats have also rushed to the shore as per the warning issued by the Meteorological Department in the wake of cyclone Mandous.
The fishermen from Malpe, who had gone for fishing in the North three to four days ago, did not face any problem, but the boats that were heading towards the South could not fish due to the pressure of the wind.
On the Northern side too, the deep sea has been under the influence of the cyclone, with some of the deep-sea boats anchored in the middle of the sea, while others resorting to a nearby port.
Boats in the deep sea are more likely to fish when the air pressure is low.
Ratnakar Salian, Secretary of Malpe Fishermen’s Association, said the boats that have reached the port will leave after the Meteorological Department’s instructions.
